This week I had the opportunity to join John Prime and Rival'e in Maui for some workshops at Pa'ia Youth Center and Hui No'eau. It was an interesting trip, being that it was my first time to Maui, I didn't know what to expect. It had a crazy mix of city, town, country and boonies all in a 20 minute driving radius. Worst Movie Ever...

Had a hot date on Sunday night which started with a 40 minute wait for Kuru Kuru in Kahala. The sushi was worth the wait as usual, so I can't complain. Then we drove over to Ward with about 5 minutes to spare to see Bridesmaids. I've gotten a bunch of good reviews on this movie, MSN even gave it a 87 out of 100 rating so I figured lets do it. Boy did I make a wrong choice. Between the bland comedy and the people talking during the movie, I have to give this 5 starfishes down. Its sad because the best actress in the movie was in the 4th starring role. The fat one (I forgot her name) had the best lines, best comedic scenarios and the most presence. So to wrap it up, save your money for a Netflix, or HBO or maybe even bootleg to see this movie.

This weekend was my nephews 5th bday. It was nice to just enjoy a good ol' fashion picnic and bbq for a birthday. The theme was Transformers, his favorite movies and toys of all time. Not quite sure what to say on this but we set off on an adventure that we thought would last us a lifetime of memories and it did. But for the wrong reason. I've only had the chance of being around Zach 3 times. 2 TNR's and the last ride. I've been kind of vibing out on this for the last couple weeks, still trying to grasp what happened. Life is deep. To everyone I know, thank you for being a part of my life. I hope I have made you guys smile or laugh at least 10.5 times, if not hang out with me more! Thanks to ckaweeks, elts, chris, ceddy bear and dave for sharing their talents on this wall. Two of those people are my HEROES FOR LIFE for rendering aid in Zachs time of need. After a years wait, I finally got the chance to hit up the infamous Century Ride put on by HBL every year. It was a last minute decision though because of the 11 pm ending time of the 8 hour long BBoy City the night before. So anyway I called up the team leader at about 6am and told him I was coming. Just one problem, I had a flat!! Long story short, I made Elton late, he let me borrow a tube since mine couldn't be fixed, Ceddy Bear, Jameel and Derek went ahead to do the 50 miler and a chinese guy was watching me the whole time changing my flat at Elts house. Elts wheres the awkward video at?

This is the first group of people we finally caught up to cruising through Hawaii Kai. By this time numerous people were passing us by heading back to Kapiolani park from doing the 25 miler

Sauuuuu. We caught the "Calved Wonder" heading back from the 25 miler after doing the around the island ride just the day before!

This one is for Kaweeks. Made it to the top of Diamond Head no stopping, calves burning. I felt bad after for asking this lady to take the picture, I had no idea she was waiting for her family to come by. They had to wait for her to take our picture first and then act like they were riding by again. After this we caught some speed heading down to Kapiolani park.

Here's a pan of the park. Since we didn't register we couldn't do the big finish but its all good.

Ended the ride with the good old 7-11 stop. This 7-11 is famouse for keeping the group hydrated every tuesday and thursday

I love CD's, buying the albums supporting the artists, checking out the insert art and I've never wanted one of these but I finally gave in. Crystal finally convinced me to get an Ipod, just like she convinced me to get a Myspace and Facebook, and who knows, I may get addicted to it like I got hooked on those. So we went down to the Apple store and I got the limited edition Product Red. It came beautifully packed, and designed to a T. Now I just gotta get used to using my Itunes and get my Podcasts going for P.T.I

This time they gave me the boot to outside buuuut its all good because I'll have a bigger space to hustle some goodies. Beat Root Bodega went down and was not too in affect. It's a telling as to how technology is taking over the music scene big time. Ipods instead of CD, Imacs instead of turntables. Respects to Kavet for tring to keep the scene alive. We need more "Dj's" to support the cause and keep it real on the ones and twos. Buy a cart with wheels or grab a homey to carry your record crates and turntable into the party. Its like artists only bringing prints and small items to shows because its easier to carry.

808 Orbits lacked the crowd that I expected it to have. With Comic Con just happening in San Diego I would've thought a little buzz around the urban art scene would be happening. I finally got to meet the brains of the operation HaynMade. In attendance for the artists was Remi, Pancho, Ohana, Rival'e, Rzone, Kres, Ownah, Daves Action, Krazy, and Klash.

My camera died halfway through my time there so I didn't get to take as many flicks as I wanted to.

Taryn Wright Memorial Ride

Today was the memorial ride for Taryn Wright, it was a very inspirational ride showing support for all the homies on two wheels. The mission of the ride was to raise eyebrows for bike safety, driver awareness and create a memorial for Taryn. Big ups to Rob, Sau, and Nimz who did the networking, and brother Eric who painted the ghost bike. The ride was super slow and not quite made for my setup, but everyone was patient and there was no body showing off or ruining the time for anyone else.

First off, thanks to Nicole and Aly for letting me hope on the Art and Flea wagon. It was definitely different being a vendor than a spectator this time. I hurt my back pretty badly in june trying to be young and dumb riding bmx and scooters so i've been trying to find different ways to rehab now that I can walk comfortably again. I picked up this bike off of Craigslist for only $50! Its a 1989 Raleigh Technium aaaand its 60cm which is super hard to find for us taller gentlemen. No rust, everything was original, all it needed was a little chocolate love.

Sooo I've been riding everyday since I bought it, and my back has felt super much better. Then the invite to ride from Waipahu to town came along. So I said what the hell and went for it.

Woke up early, handled some biz, then caught the bus out to Waipahu. I got soaked walking to the bus stop but its all good. Its been about 4 years since I caught the bus for a distance that far but it cool being able to go somewhere without having to worry about looking both ways or gas or parking or whatever other driving obstacles.

Sketched up some stuff on the journey.

Alot of people were staring at me when I was taking this picture and I couldn't figure out why until I realized it was right next to the entrance of the girls bathroom, ooops. I hit up Taniokas for some fried chicken before the trip, it was unreal as usual.

Got a chance to hook up with Gary from Js4Kix for a booth space at Build The Track at Aloha Tower last month. Its crazy to see that after all these years people are still going strong with their movement to get the track going again. When it was open I got to go a few times with my boy Jerry from Speed Syndicate. It was crazy to see all the different kinds of cars unite from street cars to classics to drag cars to motorcycles to 4 wheelers to remote controlled.

Apex was one of the dopest events i've been to in a while. The dancing was clean, and no beefs. The rap battle was mean. The live painting smelt like ling hing mui. MMA in the parking lot. Overall great event with chooooke people in attendance. I was selling Champagne Dreams tees at the event and was also supposed to live paint but people were bummed about the space alotted so I took the backseat until the next event. Apex 2 next year??

Over the last few years since i've become self employed i've pretty much just stayed in the house alllll the time. Times is hard without the constant security of a paycheck and a schedule so I had to watch what I did time wise and dime wise. Things are finally starting to pay off a little and i've been able to do a little more here and there and its so good to be able to get out and hang with the homies more. About 2 1/2 years ago while doing a show at the Blaisedell I met a man by the name of Duke and his wife Kiki. Duke had just quit his job and said was homeless but he was happy because he following his champagne dream of selling tshirts. Fast foward to now, his tshirt biz Freelance Clothing is booming and he lives in a mansion in Kahala and holds large bboy events in his living room. His mansion is being renovated right now so he has to hold Apex at Fresh Cafe this saturday, June 12th. It's looking to be a pretty dope event with live painting, special guests, choke give aways, dope vendors and good times. I will be live painting as well as pushing Champagne Dreams tees so come down and support to help fund Duke and Kiki to finish their mansion renovations!

Before my sunday show at Ala Moana I got a chance to check out Aloha Sunday. I threw in a few shirts as a sponsorship trying to promote my Champagne Dreams line. Got there at 11 which was a bit too early I guess but never the less I was there. Around 12 more and more people started arriving and doper and doper bikes came out. There were a good range of bikes, vintage setups, race setups, eye sores and ghetto rigs. I was the only one a BMX bike there but when this dude came with a single gear mountain bike AND a unicycle I didnt feel so lonely. Thanks to Ryan and the gang from Aloha Fixed for letting me get down on the support.

Good times good fun. Pinky Taylor was eccentric as usual and killed the hats. I got stuck doing hats last time and never got to enjoy myself so I took the chill road this time and hung out both days. Never had my camera the second day and missed taking pictures with the homies so i'll shout em out for coming through..so big ups to Lofa, Rival'e, Ckaweeks, Nakas, Krusha, Bolter, Dmize, Wizdom 2, Seanski, Hinano and Nboss. Shea and the fam from Sheas Luxury Detail came down in their sundays finest all fresh. They said they were dressed up for brunch but I think they really dressed up to see me. DJ Baumer aka DJ Provolone aka DJ International was on the ones and twos both days. Zack Shimizu was a trooper and played saturday night, partied all night, showed up sunday morning to support and then killed it again at Kit and Kitchen later that night. Life of a rockstar. On to the flixxx..

Ala Moana day. Steve Looney of Pacific Soul Tattoo had the bubble guts starting off the day. As soon as he put his paintings up people were loving it though. He brought Willie the apprentice through to kick it and bodyguard. Paulo from the shop came through as well with his oldschool high red socks on cheehoo.

If the artist wasnt my friend I probaly would've stole this. He goes by the name of Dave's Action and I really feel that this painting should get some action and sell.

Tried to run away from painting for as long as I could but got stuck. It was for a good cause though, homey had a keiki on the way and was setting up the babies room with some art.

Ended sunday night at Kit and Kitchen. I grew up in the neighborhood and never ate at this restaurant before. The owner Kit was super cool. Drinking on the spot, dancing to every song, sitting down at the table speaking with all the customers. Hooked it up with a Tsingtao after dinner drink too. It was my first time having it, sweet beer taste and smell. I would definitely buy a twelve pack thanks to him.

Aloha Sunday is tomorrow, got to check it out last time but only the tail end of it when there were about 10 or so riders left. I dont ride a fixie but am down to support the underground bike community where I can so I decided to sponsor a couple shirts to Ryan and the gang for the event. Headed over to the Ground Up headquarters for some r&r and then ended up at the re-grand re-opening of Split Obsession. Got a chance to see a small part of Kavets set. Bumped into Jaba from San Diego! Too intoxicated to take pics, I forgot my camera was even in my pocket.

Its that time again, artshow at Pipe Dreams. I think the last one was about almost a year ago and I dont know if I've done one since. How life changes so quickly. Pinky Taylor will be back in town, Steve Looney from Pacific Soul will have some of his tattoo inspired work, Daves Action will bring the sexyness and ill have a few goodies dropping.

My first project is my Labbit that i've had for more than a year just sitting. I finally have found the inspiration to paint it. (hint in the background of the flick)

Also a tshirt drop for the boys and girls. Not too sure of the colorways yet, I might roll with this yellow for now and maybe a teal later for the mens. Still working on the design for the ladies, the design below definitely wouldnt work to well on a womens shirt. Maybe a picture of me on it?? lol

Got a chance to get down with the group from Diverse Art Center for a hip hop event called "Ka La Ho'okuku Pahiahia". The crowd turnout was ok for the time I was there, with booths up by Quest, Prolifik, Affiliated and Freelance Clothing. It was hot as hell but hanging with the homies and grinding Huli Huli chicken with Ckaweeks made the day worth it. Doits came out on top with the trophy for the graffiti battle.

Just finished up my first month as art director for Pipe Dreams Surf Co. Its a pretty interesting job designing to sell to a broader audience instead of painting or designing just to sell it to one person. Heres what else been going on..
Went to the Hypersquads last performance with Jason Ulep at the helm called "Renaissance". It was a pretty good show with chilli dog action at the intermission. A week later we hit up Jasons go away get off the island BBQ.

Dropped the Kam heads at Pipe Dreams. Onipa'a flags sold out. Current flag still available

Hit up the B Mack concert for Valentines day. Im a pretty big R&B fan so it was pretty mean to hear him sing in person. His voice was unreal, cd quality all day, no cracks grumbles or mumbles in his notes. The bass guitarist was hella funny. For a big dude he had the most energy, I never knew you could get down so hard to "Anytime". Nesian Nine and some other junk group opened up. Nesian Nine was mean and the homie on the keyboard had the synthesizer going on!

Hit up a UH baseball game this past weekend. 2 run 9th to put UH up over Oregon State was pretty exciting. The only shitty part of the game was when a kid got hit in the throat by a foul ball a couple sections over from us.

My coworker Bri is always talking about food at work (she knows the menus from all the dopest spots by heart) and she brought up the Mc Gangbang one day. Not able to even think about finishing one, me and my other coworker Josh decided to make our own creation. And Walla.. the McNugget bang was born. We decided to wait a few weeks till his last day of work to celebrate with one and here it is. A Mcdouble with 4 nuggets. It costs about $3.50 a person but its well worth it.

Havent posted in a while been super busy. Got a new job screen printing and became Art Director for Pipe Dreams Surf Co. (eehhemm.. Hilton store coming in June..eeehhhemm..) but I had to blog about this one. First off im no Photoshop master by far but I take some pride in what I do, so when I see someone biting I get pretty upset. Heres the pics..

I wont drop names of the nightclub or promoters but I think this is a nono for designing. First off dont blatently steal images. Second off dont take an image from someone and then send it to them like you made it. We need more originality in the world especially on the local scene. Enough ba bum bum, ba bum bum, ba bum bum, ba bum bum. But in these times I guess it would be called a "remix".

I love the NBA and whenever Nike drops a bball commercial they do it right. The "Like Mike" campaign with Mars is legendary. "Whodunit?" had the G's of the league in it. "The Lebrons" was Klump-esque. More recently "Hyperizing" with DJ Quick on the beats brought the funk. But I have to say this commercial is the best one yet. The commercial features KRS One (who ironically preaches against commercialism and establishment) as Santa and the MVP's (most valuable puppets) Kobe and Lebron. The second part has snippets of KRS's classic "The Bridge" and has great comedy as well. Enjoy

Been pretty busy lately. I got a refund check in the mail for the Servco b.s. cheehoo. Dropped a design that just hit the Pipe Dreams store, ill have the pics up soon for that. Got orientation to a new job courtesy of Newkon. Me and my old lady went out to the Aikau which was pretty unreal. We slept over at a friends beach house so we skipped the crazy traffic. The crowd was amazing but it was pretty trippy that like 80% of the fans were haole. Nothing against haoles but there was not as many hawaiians as there shouldve been especially with Eddie's cultural legendary status. To me the Eddie and Buffalo classics should be the platform for Hawaiian's to showcase their culture to the world. My thought is that surfing can be expensive and time consuming. Gotta buy the board which can cost some scrills (or hawaiian borrow haha) and then gotta buy the rack for your car, bike or moped. Then you gotta take the time to go to the beach, park, walk, paddle, catch a wave and paddle some more. I dont know but maybe its just me. Any way heres the flix.

I got to go to the UH vs. Navy game last night and if you know me you would know im a pretty big football fan. If you know me mo betta than you would know im a Notre Dame fan and I was hoping to get some satisfaction with a Navy loss since they beat Notre Dame earlier in the season. It was a good game and the UH defense finally came through! Thanks to Jason Sakamoto from Oakley once again for the field passes. Got to hang out with my old friend Mike from Cool Fans Hawaii down on the field. Funny moment of the night was when my little cousin Lukey Boy got scared by Vili the Warrior and almost cried as we walked by, good stuff.

The second design is now here, its inspired by Roman Meal bread which is one of my pop's favorite breads. Ive been seeing it in his kitchen for as far back as I can remember. The front print is a little over 12" in diameter and features the centurian with his champagne glass labeled shield guarding your Champagne Dreams. The back print is the oldschool centurian logo throwing up the shaka (gotta keep it local) with the CD on the shield. I've been busy looking for a new shop setup for tshirt printing and artist get downs. Painting canvases and mingling with the peeps as well. Its been pretty crazy and i finally washed my car after almost 2 months.

2 weeks ago the people we stayed with in Seattle were here for the Oakley golf tournament. We hung out with them at the Hyatt penthouse style for there last night. After waiting in the lobby for the longest for somebody i wont name JASON who never showed up we finally made it to the 40th floor of the building after having to walk from the 35th floor and it was the wrong tower. So we had to go back down 40 stories walk back to the tower we were originally waiting at and head back up another 40 floors. But we made it and it was good times.

Started of the day doing a production with Look and Bies from the EV Crew. Same hawaiians that did the Micheal Jackson on Kokua Market. Them boys got skills.

Wanted to get out the house for a change at night so I hooked up with my boy James and took him to the beatroot. Hes from the mainland so he doesn't have to many connects here but he has a dope flow. Devious came super correct, anybody who incorporates Friday snippets and an ukulele in the same beat needs a trophy.

After a rough printshop experience in March and April, I ended up with my own shop! I've teamed up with the guys from All Bizness (myspace.com/allbizness808) to create All Bizness Solutions, a full garment printing and design shop. We also offer oversized printing, so for the peeps who want to get full front fronts and big boy printing hit me up.
